As an awards season scrambled by the devastating wildfires in Southern California gradually rights itself—the Critics Choice Awards, once meant to take place on January 14, are now fairly firmly set for February 7; directly before the 77th Directors Guild of America Awards and 36th Producers Guild of America Awards—one delayed occasion has finally had its day: the announcement of this year’s contenders for the 97th Academy Awards.

So, did all the momentum (and general goodwill) around films like The Brutalist, BabygirlA Real PainThe SubstanceAnoraI’m Still Here, and Emilia Pérez these last few months actually convert to Oscar nods? Yes, in some cases—and no in a few notable others.

Read on for a full list of the 2025 Oscar nominees—and then stay tuned for our coverage of the Oscars telecast itself, scheduled for Sunday, March 2.
