Pia Wurtzbach’s longtime collaborator Perry Tabora captures a behind-the-scenes perspective of her cover shoot in Rome.
Early morning on a warm day in spring, the Villa Aurelia was already bustling with activity. It was when Bvlgari had invited over 20 media titles to shoot on the nearly 400-year-old property; among them was the Vogue Philippines team and Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey, the Maison’s first Filipino friend of the house.
Gliding along palace walls and over lush, sprawling gardens, she transformed in Bulgari’s High Jewelry pieces and a mix of local and international fashion: Giambattista Valli, Alaïa, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Shushu/Tong, Michael Cinco, and Mark Bumgarner. There were fourteen to fifteen looks to shoot in total, but there was an air of excitement that swirled over the grounds that day; the team continued at a frenetic pace, shooting from 9 AM to 7 PM.
“Honestly, I didn’t feel tired at all,” Pia told Vogue in her cover story. “I was ready to keep going until the sun set.”
It’s this quality to Pia that keeps her longtime collaborator and stylist Perry Tabora inspired. At the shoot styled by Vogue Philippines fashion director Pam Quiñones, he was present to work with the Vogue team in putting the looks together.
He notes the chartreuse fall/winter 2024 Gucci dress complemented by a multicolored Bvlgari High Jewelry necklace as one of the more memorable looks, but the high-neck choker—another Bvlgari High Jewelry piece—paired with a deep purple fall/winter 2024 Alaïa dress will always be a favorite.
“It was a long day, but seeing the looks and jewelry captured beautifully by Callum Inskip was incredibly fulfilling,” Perry says. “My favorite moment was watching the shoot come to life and seeing those incredible Bvlgari High Jewelry pieces up close.”
The stylist has worked with Pia since 2017, and they’ve been inseparable since. He tells Vogue Philippines that he couldn’t be more excited to see where her journey takes her next. “From the start, she has always been enthusiastic and open to exploring new styles and trends,” Perry says. “Her eagerness for fashion has made our collaboration so rewarding.”
He continues, “With her determination, talent, and authenticity, I have no doubt that she will continue to make waves in the global fashion industry.”
