Pretty In Pink—Fashion Week’s Hair Color Of The Moment

Phil Oh

From shoes all the way up to hair color, this season was all about expression—and fashion week goers did so by painting the town pink.

Fashion month was chock-full of fanfare and spectacle, both on the runway and on the streets. Dior had a noteworthy lineup of front-row guests in Paris, including everyone from Blackpink’s Jisoo to author and activist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and rock climbing phenom Margot Hayes. Some weeks prior in Milan, Dolce & Gabbana presented a collection curated by Kim Kardashian herself. In London, Queen frontman Adam Lambert sang at Harris Reed’s show, and in New York, K-pop idol Jeno opened the show for Peter Do.

Thanks, perhaps, to the digital age, social media, and changing standards, the line between fashion, celebrity, and pop culture has never been more blurred. The result: a cross-industry collaboration of expression. Judging by the street style and beauty trends this season, show-goers are not holding back on showcasing their personal style.

There’s one new trend this season that has individuals standing out from the crowd—pink hair. Between Paris, Milan, London, and Shanghai, pink hair is everywhere. From neon to pastel shades, pop-punk to prim and elegant, fashion week attendees are showing the world that pink is for anyone.

Not all pink ’dos need to be extreme if that’s not the look you’re going for. Fun-colored hair dye can suit any style—and might add a much-needed update to a classic look like a blazer and skirt. In fact, some of the most glamorous Hollywood figures of the 20th century sported pink hair, including Brigitte Bardot and Shirley MacLaine.

Cotton Candy Mullet

Bold colored hair became a mainstay for post-modern punk styles in the 1970s onwards. To this day, dyeing your hair can be a great way to give a little edge to your cut. Machine Gun Kelly was spotted around fashion week in a cotton-candy pink mullet and pink fur vest to match.

As the internet embraces the shag thanks to viral tutorials on TikTok, there’s no denying an easy, choppy hair cut is the new way forward. And what better way to add a little extra individuality to the look than by dyeing it a sweet pink?

Just A Little Flushed

If you’re not too sure about going all-in on a bright color, there’s no reason not to play around with a little tint of pink. Fashion week attendees are lightly mixing up their blonde look with a little tint of color to highlight their ends.

Pixie Pink

A gamine pixie has long been a way to hone the strong and sexy “garçonne” effect, much beloved by actresses like Léa Seydoux. Add a playful touch with azalea-toned dye.

Boyish Blush

Heartthrob hair is back in a big way this year, and fashion week audiences are taking to the trend in whatever color imaginable, including shades of blush. Try this low-maintenance haircut for an easy, tousled look.

Anyone going for a bold and bright look can look no further, this is your sign to try out hot pink. While you’re at it, why not amplify the statement color with matching tights and some space-age silver?
