Creating organic architecture out of fabric and form, Liza Soberano’s ensemble is poetry in motion.
Liza Soberano has always been one to turn heads, and at the Vogue Philippines Anniversary Gala, she selected an outfit that looked stunning from all angles. The actress arrived in a couture piece from Filipino fashion designer Rajo Laurel’s archive, a sculptural marvel made of pleated organza fused with nylon. The striking ensemble was then accessorized with Tiffany & Co.’s classic jewelry pieces.
Speaking to Vogue Philippines, Soberano is blooming and fresh-faced as shares how excited she is to be at the anniversary soiree. “I’m really happy to be here at the Vogue Gala, it’s my first time, and it’s my first time attending a big event here in the Philippines in a while,” Soberano declares.
She shares that she is wearing a dress from Rajo Laurel’s Chrysalis collection. “It’s inspired by the beauty of transformation, of like a caterpillar to a butterfly. So my dress kind of resembles a cocoon of some sort, and that’s like something I resonate with,” Soberano continues. “I’m in the middle of a transformation, and you know becoming something that people aren’t used to seeing. And I feel it’s something that I perfectly identify with.”
According to Soberano’s longtime stylist Perry Tabora, the dress and Laurel’s collection instantly resonated with the actress. “When we saw the dress at Rajo’s atelier, we knew right then and there that this was the perfect fit for Liza,” shares Tabora. “This look symbolizes Liza’s progression in her career and her profound development as both an actress and a human being.” With sinuous drapes that seemed to defy gravity, each detail of Soberano’s dress conveyed a graceful poetry befitting the 25-year-old actress.
For her beauty look, makeup artist Mickey See and hairstylist Renz Pangilinan chose a look that would showcase and accentuate her best features. Natural dewy makeup and tousled waves allowed Soberano’s natural beauty to shine through.
