September brings a packed lineup of movie and streaming releases, including Cinepanalo films and franchise sequels.
As the Philippines celebrates its Creative Industries Month, Filipino cinephiles have plenty to look forward to as local films continue their momentum with the 2026 Cinepanalo Film Festival and the first National Cinema Day in the country. Alongside the slew of Filipino films comes a lineup of highly anticipated foreign films such as Verity and Forgotten Island, and series releases such as Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85.

Practical Magic 2
Nearly two decades since the first film, Practical Magic 2 hits the silver screen on September 9. Starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, the sequel follows the Owens sisters as they confront the dark curse that threatens their family.

Fall 2: Deadpoint
Releasing on September 9, Fall 2: Deadpoint is a sequel to Fall (2022). It follows the story of two climbers who become trapped thousands of feet above the ground as they climb across Thailand’s Mount Kwan.

Starring Maricel Soriano and Bela Padilla, Life After You explores the story of two women who have different ways of raising a child they deeply care about. The film opens September 9.

Edjop
On September 16, Edjop will finally hit the cinemas. Starring Elijah Canlas, Edjop is based on the life of Edgar Jopson, a young privileged man turned underground activist who confronted President Ferdinand Marcos.

Resident Evil
Confronting a different type of evil is Zach Cregger’s adaptation of the hit video game, Resident Evil. Releasing on September 16, it follows Bryan, a medical courier who finds himself in a race for survival as a horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story
This September 17, Netflix tells the story of Lizzie Borden. Based on a true story, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story follows Borden and her live-in maid as they escape a cruel Victorian household through a bloody ax murder.

On September 17, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 returns with a second season. In its new season, the gang must uncover the truth behind ghostly apparitions and a swarm of strange creatures causing chaos around town.

Forgotten Island
On September 23, the highly anticipated animated film Forgotten Island is coming to the big screen. It follows the story of Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Liza Soberano) as they discover a portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali.

Apol of My Ai
Directed by Thop Nazareno, Apol of My Ai is an entry in this year’s Cinepanalo Festival. The film follows a young boy named Apol who is approaching manhood while dealing with his feelings for his choir teacher and a painful choice made by his father, Poli.
