For its second collection, Able Apparel curates a nine-piece collection that reinterprets versatility through texture-play and monochromatic tones
After the release of its debut collection last October, Able Apparel now continues its narrative of finding strength through uniqueness with a sequel ensemble that celebrates those who embrace such strength with grace. “The Unboxed Collection is all about reclaiming freedom,” shares co-founder Sophia Eslabon. “It explores what it means to step out of the boxes we’re placed in by society, while also being a love letter to the courage it takes to evolve.”
In continuing the brand’s visual narrative through the new collection, Eslabon shared that the details go beyond its new designs, as elements found within its editorial campaigns bare their own meanings as well. “The red door symbolizes an invitation to step into a new chapter, while the heart platform, a recurring motif in Able’s storytelling, reflects the brand’s emotional foundations in self-love, transformation, and courage,” she adds.
“Every detail in this shoot was meant to remind our audience that the boxes we’re placed in don’t define us, instead it’s how we unbox ourselves that does,” the co-founder shares. And while these elements evolve alongside the brand’s greater narrative, Able Apparel’s recontextualized sensibilities for versatility are now also seen through its use of a monochromatic colors and interchangeable garments.
Ideally styled together, the Samantha top and Serena skirt arrive in a pleated crêpe design with the collection’s crystal-embellished bow motif going down their center lines, creating a flattering yet refined look for an evening out in the city. “The crystal-embellished bows represent the beauty in choosing yourself, even when it sparkles quietly,” shares Eslabon.
The Eleanor blouse and Silvia skirt, however, are a pairing that looks to favor walks along the coastline, given the top’s sheer yet draping fabric and the skirt’s layered and high-waisted design. The all-white duo also features the former’s knotted motifs, detailing the right shoulder and waistline, respectively.
Though just as interchangeable as its coupled counterparts, the Viola top uses its satin-like finish for an added sense of ease to go with its puffed shoulders, twisted front detail, and removable flower necklace. And while offered in black and white styles, the piece also comes in blush and powder blue variations, which complement the Sofia and Sloane shorts’ more form-fitting designs.
Closing the nine-piece collection, the Austen and Audrey dresses reference the structures of classical silhouettes by featuring corset and darted bodices that trail into wide-flaring skirts. Because of this, both dresses then balance a playful and elegant impression that can easily transition across occasions, be it for open-invite celebrations or intimate gatherings.
For the brand’s sequel collection, Able Apparel believes that each piece of its Unboxed collection builds upon its initial narrative of self-empowerment by creating pieces that the brand hopes could encourage wearers to express their inner-confidence through fashion. “It’s not about the clothes, it’s about what the clothes represent,” co-founder David Fugnit shares. “For us, fashion is a tool, but it’s the story and the community behind it that makes it meaningful.”
