“Through the lens” is a phrase often borrowed by photographers and artists. A callback to the many shades of reality, it is meant to signify that everyone has their own perspective they use to view events, landscapes, and ideas in a different way. In the modern world, lives are captured through these lenses. Through the power of the smartphone, every person is given the opportunity to take snippets of their lives, turning moments into viewable memories.

A smartphone that aims to capture these experiences, the Redmi Note 13 Series is most distinguished by its newly upgraded camera and its other lifestyle features. In a launch held in Bangkok, Thailand, Xiaomi unveiled the new series with a collection of five smartphones. The event saw the release of the base Redmi Note 13, the Note 13 5G, the Note 13 Pro, the Note 13 Pro 5G, and the Note 13 Pro+ 5G.

Capturing moments has been the focus of this new series, placing a greater emphasis on providing clearer and more well defined images. Each smartphone in the series is equipped with a triple-rear camera setup, with 108MP and 200MP sensors for the standard and pro versions respectively. These characteristics allow the camera to reveal both the minute and intricate, from the tiny clumps of fabric on articles of clothing, to the natural luster of morning dew found in grass.

To field broader perspectives, the camera is also accompanied by an ultra-wide lens across each model. With camera quality nearly on-par with professional photography, every image taken through these lenses add layers of depth that unfurl new details and texture.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 13 Series also features an extended battery life and faster charging, with the ability to fully recharge after only nineteen minutes. The series also offers improved elemental resistance, being able to be submerged at deeper depths and a more durable frame.

The launch event of the Redmi Note 13 Series also saw the return of Gabbi Garcia, Xiaomi’s brand ambassador to the Philippines. Now in her second year with Xiaomi, the actress expressed her excitement toward her future with the brand, and her plans to integrate the new series of smartphones into her content creation as well. “Earlier we went on a tour here in Bangkok, and I can really incorporate their phones into my daily life, my vlogging, taking photos, and my activity on social media,” says Garcia.

At the height of the evening, the event hall was lit in a dazzle of multi-colored lights as BamBam, a Thai-born K-pop artist, was introduced as Xiaomi’s newest ambassador. As the first regional ambassador representing South East Asia, the event also marked a return for the artist to his hometown after a recent tour of concerts with his band, Got7.

During a short segment with BamBam, the artist discussed the relevance of his partnership with Xiaomi, and how the fields of technology and music influenced his career.

“Music and tech have always been a big part of me when I was young. Even if I am not a K-pop artist right now, I would always still stick to music and the two can’t really be separated. It’s something I really need in my life, and they’re what took me from nothing to something.”
