Staged in the fashion capital of the world Vogue Threads serves as a celebration of Philippine storytelling done with heads and glasses held high

Amidst the clamor in the streets of Paris, France as it enters the year’s fashion week, editor-in-chief Bea Valdes welcomes the evening to Vogue Threads, an acclamation of Filipino culture and craftsmanship. To mark the second anniversary of Vogue Philippines, tastemakers and enthusiasts in the industries of fashion, media and design traverse land and sea to witness the works of both seasoned and upcoming Filipino designers within the historical walls of the Palais Galliera.

Found within each detail of the evening are the gilded hues of Scottish distillery Chivas Regal. Fashion models Kelsey Merritt and Mathieu Simoneau are seen stepping out from their co-branded coaches as they are greeted by the intricately designed maquettes situated along the peristyle of the museum.

Just past the photocall, attendees are then welcomed by garçons offering a selection of drinks tailored for the evening’s festivities. Flacons of Chivas XV are also seen decorating the dining hall both along the tablescapes as well as the golden mobile bar.

From flute glasses of champagne blended with a range of tart and floral notes from raspberry puree to vermouth, a standout from the table d’hôte were the cocktails made with the brand’s XV collection and curated by mixologist Mark John Buenviaje of which are aptly named, Chivas Knight, Chivas Rose and Chivas Luxe

Seen as Simoneau’s drink of choice, the Chivas Knight blends the fifteen-year aged whisky with the citrus flavors of orange bitters and cointreau. The first of the latter pair of drinks captivates the message of celebration that the GH Mumm Cordon Rouge champagne represents with elements of rose syrup and lemon bitters appropriately for the Chivas Rose. The Chivas Luxe only remains accented by the herbal flavors of angostura bitters as a means to couple the strong characteristics of the two spirits.

From Manila to Paris, the family-founded brand sought its way to celebrate such a milestone for Philippine fashion, an ode to the Brothers Chivas’ determination and mythos to never settle. Since 1801, Chivas Regal continues to uphold their value in uplifting one another through each challenge, and more so, with each success. In celebrating another milestone together with Vogue Philippines, the streets of Paris bear witness to how Philippine craftsmanship and perseverance weave into the greater heritage of culture and the arts on a global scale.

As the climax of the night’s formalities, Valdes imparts a message with a toast to the spirit of bravery and adventure, “To the collective million miles we have traveled to reach this point, and to the countless next million milestones that lie ahead.”
