At Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati, celebrities, creatives, models, and designers spent a Wednesday night celebrating the launch of Vogue Studios.
On a regular weekday, Shooting Gallery is used as a space for, well, shoots. It’s usually rented for creative photography concepts, castings, rehearsals, and events. But on the first Wednesday of August, creatives, celebrities, and media personalities filled the space as Vogue Philippines launched its media channels department through the Vogue Studios launch party.
A new addition to Vogue Philippines, the media channels department is the title’s content development arm, dedicated to producing original programs across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and soon, a podcast. During his speech, media channels editor Anz Hizon describes the department as a “dedicated space for stories in motion.” “This is our lab for trying new ways to reach people, new screens, new voices, and new ways to stay connected,” he said.
So, celebrities, creatives, models, and designers connected and celebrated, acquainting and re-acquainting themselves with both new and familiar faces. Ruru Madrid and Bianca Umali were among the first to walk through the pathway lined with LED screens, as well as Laura Ojimba and Ena Mori. Through the same fluorescent-lit entrance, the A-Team, clad in all-white ensembles, made theirs. Guests swayed to the dance crew’s performance, and as the group concluded, the dancing spilled out throughout the rest of the night.
One of the first to dance was photographer Belg Belgica, who moved to a House music mix by Lui Pimentel. Brian Black, known for his drag persona NAIA, joined the scene, drink in hand and dancing to the beat. “Honestly, I’m having so much fun!” Black shared. “I’m seeing a lot of people in the fashion world, the drag world, the beauty world. I’m so happy to be part of the community!”
For guests who didn’t want to dance, the IQOS and Zyn lounge offered a space where they could sit and chat over drinks. There, Darren Espanto and Cassy Legaspi caught up away from most of the noise, and designers Renz Reyes and Prince Padilla sipped on their cocktails, deep in conversation.
Back on the dance floor, you’d find designer Jude Macasinag enjoying a cocktail while moving to Gabby Agbayani and Christal Chung’s DJ set. “I’m very proud of where Vogue Philippines is headed,” he said later. “It’s one of the youngest Vogue titles that’s coming up right now, and for that to expand into something digital, especially in today’s world, it’s such a great move for Vogue Philippines to step into the world of what’s new. It’s keeping up with the zeitgeist.”
When asked what he was looking forward to seeing, he had one response. “New talent!” he exclaimed. And what great timing, too. Paulo Arboleda, one of the models from the recent Vogue Faces open casting call, was also at the party. “I’m having a blast!” he said. “Seeing creatives celebrating fashion really hypes me up.”
Atomic World’s owner, Fed Pua, shared the same sentiment. “You know how busy creatives can be, so seeing them here tonight is fun because I get to see everyone again!” he said.
