For her “Madwoman” music video, Laufey casts fellow mixed Asian personalities.
Remember when Laufey got mistaken for Katseye’s Megan Skiendiel at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards? The awkward moment might have just led to the casting of Skiendiel for Laufey’s “Madwoman” music video.
On April 8, the 26-year-old singer announced the first two talents to be featured in the music video: Skiendiel and Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu. Shortly after, she also announced the casting of The Summer I Turned Pretty’s lead actress, Lola Tung, and Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams. Each of the stars was announced on Instagram, through a series of polaroids taken from the music video set. Since the announcement of its full cast, the Internet has jokingly called the group “the royal family of wasia.”
Directed by Warren Fu, the music video is part of the rollout of her deluxe album, A Matter of Time: The Final Hour, which is an expansion of her 2025 Grammy Award-winning album A Matter of Time. “Madwoman,” which was released on April 10, tells a story of intense, obsessive, and sometimes irrational feelings of love in a turbulent, repetitive relationship.
The music video follows Laufey’s Coachella debut, where she performed the new single along with her hits from Bewitched, including “From the Start,” “Falling Behind,” “Valentine,” and “Goddess.”
