Olivia Rodrigo’s Second Album Is Filled With “Good Old Fashioned Teen Angst”

The singer-songwriter shared details about her second album, which is set for release in September.

Olivia Rodrigo is back with her highly anticipated sophomore album, and fans are about to gain insight into the singer’s mindset when she was 19. She posted an announcement on Instagram revealing that Guts will be released on September 8. A longer announcement was sent through her official newsletter.

“I am writing today to let you guys know that GUTS is coming out September 8th! Writing that sentence feels so surreal!!!” says Rodrigo in her newsletter. “I made the bulk of this album during my 19th year on this earth, [two years] that, for me, was filled with lots of confusion, mistakes, awkwardness, & good old fashioned teen angst,” she adds.

For Guts, Rodrigo reunited with the main producer of Sour, Dan Nigro, who also co-wrote the first single off the second album, “Vampire,” which is set for release on June 30. The singer revealed that she made the album between New York and LA. “I’m so very proud of it and I cannot express how excited I am to embark on this new chapter of my life with you guys,” she expressed.

Since her breakout debut in the music industry with the highly acclaimed single “Driver’s License,” Olivia Rodrigo has emerged as one of the voices of her generation. Her debut studio album Sour resonated with listeners consumed with heartbreak, as proven by its five-week stint at number 1 in the Billboard 200 chart, making it the longest reigning album by a female artist in 2021.
