Two years after her chart-topping debut album Sour, the Filipino-American singer-songwriter promises her new material is “so so so so close to being done.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s breakout debut album Sour celebrated its second anniversary, and the “Driver’s License” singer-songwriter commemorated its release with an Instagram post featuring behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the making of the album to its release.

“SOUR turns 2 years old today. No words could ever describe how much this album means to me and how insanely grateful I feel for every blessing it has brought into my life,” the Filipino-American artist wrote in her caption. Rodrigo then teased about the new music that she is working on, stating that “the new stuff is so so so so close to being done, I pinky promise.”

Apart from the Instagram post, Rodrigo also sent a handwritten note in her newsletter, where she continued to drop hints about her new album coming soon.

“I cannot believe it’s been 2 years since SOUR came out. That album will always be so so special to me & I’m so grateful to you guys for embracing it the way you have,” she wrote, after which came the hint: “I’m taking today to reflect on all the amazing things that have happened since SOUR and looking fORward 2 all the things to come.”

Sour came out in May 2021 following the viral success of Rodrigo’s debut single, “Driver’s License,” which topped music charts in the United States for eight weeks and consecutively topped charts in 25 countries around the world. “Driver’s License” eventually became the most streamed song of 2021 on Spotify and Apple Music. She also released the singles “Deja Vu,” which peaked at number 3 on the music charts, and “Good 4 U,” which made history when it debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Rodrigo became the first artist to start her career with her first three singles in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 chart at the same time.
