Vivid crimson and blazing orange bring focus to the face
Traditionally, Fall makeup is usually made up of deep berries and earthy tones. Think crushed blackberries on the lips, cherry stains on the cheeks, and hot cocoa shadows on the eyes. This season, the runway trends ran gamut from metallics to bleached brows, but two stood out for their simplicity and boldness: the red lip and a statement punk eye. When paired with fresh, radiant skin, and a sense of punk-ish irreverence perfectly embodied by the likes of Chloë Sevigny and Emma Chamberlain, the effect is mesmerizing and disarmingly cool.
After several years of embracing a pared down aesthetic, this season’s beauty trends seek revelatory change. Perhaps it’s time to surrender to the power of transformation.

Reimagined Red Lips
Bright red lips against bare skin isn’t a new concept. Tinting one’s lips crimson is a tradition that goes (way) back to ancient Mesopotamia, where people crushed semi-precious stones to get the color, and in Egypt, where queen bee Cleopatra ground up beetles and ants. Refresh the look by feathering out the edges of the lips, taking a cue from K-beauty’s gradient lip look. Try a cream-textured cherry red shade such as Rare Beauty Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream (P1695) and use a small fluffy brush or your pinkie to smudge the edges of your lip line.

Colored Lashes
Crayola-colored hair is a hot street style trend, and this look extends to the eyes via the lashes. Today’s highly pigmented mascaras mean you get true-to-pan (or in this case, tube) hues. You can opt to match your lash color with your eyeshadow, as seen in the photo below, or go with bare lids, or use contrasting shades. We particularly like a wash of orange shadow on the eye lids with blue lashes. Try Benefit Cosmetics BADGal Bang! Mascara (P1760) in blue or go the DIY route for your own custom color.

Graphic Eyes
The term is typically associated with sooty, ’60s-style eyeliner, but this season, it’s all about color. From pastel shades to glitter-encrusted lids, the graphic eye is anything but boring these days. A bold metallic color such as gold or silver can look especially striking, but a sunset-inspired blazing red shade ensures everyone will remember your look. Resist the urge to use your lipstick, as not all the ingredients in a lip product is safe for the eye. Hunt down a bold colored cream or liquid eye shadow. Try Barry M Euphoric Metallic Eyeshadow Cream (P299) in Charged or Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour (P1695) in Sienna
