Sienna Miller will forever be associated with boho style, but tonight sees her become the latest poster girl for a very modern approach to maternity dressing. That is to say, smock dresses and billowing fabrics are out, body-conscious silhouettes and bump-exposing crop tops are in.
Miller—who stuck with her tried-and-true wardrobe of floaty dresses and ankle boots while expecting her daughter Marlowe in 2012—walked the red carpet at Vogue World: London tonight resplendent in a Schiaparelli skirt and cropped shirt that left her growing baby bump bare.
Miller is characteristically on-trend. In a post-Rihanna-on-the-front-row-at-Gucci world, celebrity mums-to-be are not hiding their bumps beneath swathes of fabric, but rather celebrating their changing bodies with an empowering sense of confidence—a refreshing shift that has been filtering through to the red carpet. Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry has never had time for edicts around how women should dress. “Another antiquated ‘rule’ to consider, question, and in this case, disregard entirely,” he told Vogue. “Her choice is our honor. Nothing but our love and congratulations to Sienna and her little one in the making.”
Miller was styled by Harry Lambert for her debut appearance on the red carpet since it emerged that she is expecting a second child. “I’m super proud of and excited for this one,” Lambert told Vogue on the night. “It deserves to make headlines!”
