Tumi Celebrates the Serpent with its Black and Gold Travel Collection

Tumi features gilded graphic travel bags and metallic accessories this year.

Like the legendary one-hit wonder by Sam Sparro. Tumi has released a limited-edition collection of black and gold travel backpacks, luggage, and accessories for the Lunar New Year.

Founded in 1975 by Charlie Clifford after serving his time in the Peace Corps, Tumi takes its moniker from the Peruvian Tumi, a ceremonial knife used for ritual sacrifice and elite burial ceremonies in the Inca Empire.

In modern times, the Tumi knife is now the national symbol of Peru, found in museums or hung up on walls for good luck. For roaming voyagers, Tumi is synonymous with high-end ballistic nylon backpacks and serrated aluminum suitcases.

To celebrate the new wood snake zodiac in hyper-functional style; the brand’s Halsey and Navigation Backpacks, Compass Crossbody, and Platoon Sling are adorned with coiling gold brushstrokes.

Each item comes with a serpent-shaped luggage tag, including a Tumi ‘Lucky Coin’ tucked in the lining to bring good luck and fortune on your adventures this year.
