The frosty gray shade was worn right up to the brow bone.

It has been a season in which “deconstructed” beauty has taken the reins—and at Chanel’s fall-winter 2023 show, the French fashion house naturally put a polished spin on the trend. Models traversed the runway wearing pewter eyeshadow right up the brow bone—and it was surprisingly flattering.

While nowadays it’s more common to see neutral browns, taupes or smudgy black shades around the eyes—understandably, because they’re easier to wear—Chanel proves frosty gray tones are equally chic. Diffused across eyelids, under the eyes and up to the brows, the pewter shadow (Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres in 334 Modern Glamour) had a metallic glint to it, creating a frosty but utilitarian feel.

How to wear it now? Pair with sculpted cheekbones, defined eyebrows, and eyelashes that have been loaded up with mascara to create a spidery, ’60s effect on both lash lines.
