At this year’s Vogue Threads ManilaVogue Threads ManilaVogue Philippines' annual fashion platform for emerging talent, featuring exhibitions, masterclasses, talks, portfolio reviews, and Vogue Faces. Vogue Threads Manila connects young Filipino creatives with industry leaders, and it showcasesGo to Vogue Threads Manila Glossary, Vogue Philippines launched the country’s inaugural Vogue Café pop-up. For its first edition, chef Rhea Rizzo of Mrs. Saldo’s took the helm, curating a menu that takes familiar Filipino flavors with her food memories across the globe.
Inside, guests dined in the restaurant’s main area, or for a more intimate setting, the library room featuring artworks of Mars Bugaoan, curated by Eric Paras. At the tables set with Designer Blooms centerpieces, guests chatted over dishes such as the Bagoong Honey Fried Chicken and Maranao Riyandang, or over desserts like the Halo-Halo Cobbler, accompanied by a cocktail, mocktail, and other beverages.
Outside the café was its coffee kiosk, where guests got their caffeine boost from coffee classics such as an Americano or Latte, or from the specialty drink Coffee Pandan Latte with Sago. Pastries were named after Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo characters, such as the Sisa ube cinnamon cheese bun or the Ibarra Coffee Auro cacao nib.
“It was truly a collective effort, and none of this would have been possible without everyone’s support, especially my own team, who worked tirelessly alongside me to bring this menu to life,” Rizzo told Vogue Philippines.
She continued, “I’ve always had a deep appreciation for beautiful things, and there’s something special about seeing people express their creativity through what they wear, what they create, and how they choose to show up in the world. Being able to share my own creative expression through food, and have it become part of that same energy, is incredibly fulfilling.”
