Rimowa introduces Orange and Magenta, two new colorways for its Essential and Groove collections inspired by the bold palettes of pop design.
When talking about pop art, certain visuals and color palettes often come to mind, and for good reason. The movement has long been associated with bright, bold colors due to its close ties to pop culture. From Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe portraits, which balance vibrant neon shades with black-and-white motifs, to Jim Steranko’s surreal take on Marvel comics, pop art embraced striking contrasts and saturated hues. It is no surprise, then, that the movement came to be defined by unmixed colors inspired by the visual language of mass media.
In the Philippines, similarly bold color combinations can also be seen in contemporary art and pop culture. Magenta skies and orange explosions became signature backdrops in works featuring characters like Darna, Captain Barbell, and even the recently recognized Filipino animation Zsazsa Zaturnnah. The same vibrant visual language also found its way into films like Ang Panday and Magic Temple, where fantastical worlds came alive through richly saturated production design and visual effects.
Drawing from the same spirit, Rimowa has introduced Orange and Magenta to its Essential and Groove ranges as a nod to an era of unconventional aesthetics and self-expression. In celebration of the launch, the Maison also enlisted Spanish actress Rossy de Palma as the face of the campaign, placing her in a theatrical setting where surrealism and vibrant colors take center stage.
The new colorways are not limited to suitcases. They also extend to the Groove cross-body bag, which features a suitcase-inspired handle and can be worn as a cross-body, shoulder bag, or handbag. While Orange and Magenta bring a bolder approach to the collection, the Groove range also expands with additional colorways. These include the serene Chalk and warm Cognac hues, alongside a shopping bag in a rich burgundy shade.
The pop-inspired collections have launched globally, with the accessories also available at Rimowa boutiques worldwide and online.
