The Fashion Brief at the 2026 Oscar Nominee Luncheon? Cool Suiting and Runway Flexes

I’ve never been nominated for an Oscar (or an Emmy, Grammy, or Tony, for that matter), but I can hazard a guess that getting ready for an awards show red carpet is a production. The marathon of ceremonies between the December 2025 Gotham Awards and March 2026 Oscars calls for a steady stream of ballgowns and tuxedos—but a few events along the way are, blessedly, pretty chill. Today’s Oscar Nominees Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton, a get-together for the lucky few in the running for Hollywood’s highest honor, was one example.

Rose Byrne was the poster child for cool this afternoon, wearing a look from Louise Trotter’s spring 2026 Bottega Veneta debut: a brown tank with one strap sliding off the shoulder, a pair of tapered black high-waisted trousers, and off-white mules. Matching her sensibility? The Secret Agent’s Wagner Moura, who ditched traditional suiting for a plum shirt and trousers with a matching overcoat.

Though many of the attendees opted for suiting, the looks strayed a bit from standard red carpet fare. Sentimental Value’s Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas—one of the breakout fashion stars of the season—also opted for Bottega, wearing a draped cream silk blouse and an oversized navy suit. Her costar Elle Fanning also reached for suiting, though she opted for a feminine Givenchy by Sarah Burton interpretation. Emma Stone, meanwhile, riffed on a tux in a Julie de Libran minidress with lapels and a plunging neckline.

Elsewhere, Jacob Elordi flouted the fashion rules, pairing a black jacket with gray trousers and brown shoes, and Timothée Chalamet abandoned neutrals altogether for an electric blue double-breasted suit.
