The American actor marked her first Golden Globe win with a heartfelt speech and the debut of an intricate Cartier high jewelry set from the Nature Sauvage collection
It was a night of firsts, especially for Zoe Saldaña. The American actor won her first Golden Globes for best performance by a female actor in a supporting role as Rita, an overworked yet accomplished lawyer in Emilia Pérez. In her speech, Saldaña expressed her gratitude, saying, “This is a first time for me, and I’m just so blessed that I’m sharing this moment with Selena [Gomez] and Karla [Sofía Gascón] and Jacques [Audiard] and all of my fellow nominees.”
Accepting the award in a sequined Saint Laurent gown, the New Jersey-born actress also debuted a high jewelery set from Cartier, the Melis necklace and earrings, a stunning match to her gilded trophy.
In preparation for the 2025 Golden Globes, the 46-year-old flew to Cartier’s 13 Paix boutique in Paris with her stylist Petra Flannery. There, they met Alexa Abitbol, the Maison’s High Jewelry Workshop director, for a consult, leading to Saldaña personally choosing the golden Melis set, from the Nature Sauvage High Jewelry Collection, to be the centerpiece of her look.
True to its name, the Melis, which means “honey” in Greek, the design revolves around a bee motif. Its body is crafted from a 2.64-carat Fancy Intense yellow diamond in Cartier’s signature briolette shape. Surrounding the intricate centerpiece is a honeycomb-inspired design made entirely of yellow diamond beads, briolette-cut diamonds, and brilliant-cut diamonds. The warm glow from the yellow-gold structure evokes the golden sweetness of honey.
It took Cartier’s artisans 738 hours to work on the necklace, adding unique approaches to it with unfaceted diamond beads, encased in a mirror-polish finish, subtly reflecting light. This technique creates a gentle scintillation that draws the eye along a carefully arranged gradient of color. Simultaneously, the briolette-cut diamonds are mounted with precision on fine micro-wires, showcasing a delicate display of savoir-faire by the Maison.
“I am honored to be the first person to wear the Melis set and showcase its beauty on this special occasion. Its golden fluidity felt apropos for the Golden Event and makes it a joy to wear,” shares Saldaña.
In the Philippines, Cartier is located at Greenbelt 3, Solaire Resorts and Casino, and Rustan’s Shangri-La Plaza.
