The two creatives reflect on how they shaped their careers with quality time and shared energies in mind
The idea of work-life balance was a misdirection from the start. In corporate environments where some employees average 44-hour workweeks, the fashion industry can also take months out of any professional’s calendar. And while voices like the Australian government, or designers Dries Van Noten, Andrew Kieth, and Shira Sue Carmi are enacting and calling for shifts to a more sustainable lifestyle, others have begun taking matters into their own hands.
From becoming more conscious of those they keep close to placing clearer boundaries between work and personal life, each choice is about staying grounded, building healthier habits, and finding meaning in repose. In partnership with IQOS, Vogue Philippines talks with models Genesis Redido and Jach Manere, as they share what goes on in their day-to-day, and how they reflect a deeper sense of intention throughout.
For Redido, a typical day never flows the same way twice. “My days can be fast-paced between work, creating content, and staying active, but what keeps me grounded are the simple things: wellness, meaningful connections, and quiet moments to reset,” he shares.
Keeping an active lifestyle can come in many forms for the model-actor as well, whether that’s snowboarding in Hokkaido, playing volleyball with his friends, or going to the gym. Having such an eclectic rotation of activities has also kept Redido’s essentials to a minimum, with his phone, eye drops, sunglasses, and his favored IQOS Iluma device close by. “In an era where things can come easily, I’ve learned to be more practical and intentional. I value my time, know what I want, and no longer waste energy on things that don’t serve my purpose,” he adds.
And while his social media, particularly his TikTok, shows the more eccentric aspects of his professional life, he remains focused on further growing his creative pursuits, all while staying curious for what’s to come. “Most importantly, I’ve learned to genuinely enjoy life, cherishing each day with my family, making time for myself, and appreciating the simple moments that make life meaningful.”
A usual day for Manere, however, always begins with a morning workout. “It doesn’t have to be intense, but it’s my way of grounding myself. It’s essential for me to always begin with a calm, positive mindset and an energized body, since for me, it honestly affects how everything else goes,” she explains. Throughout the day, the model goes through her own gamut of castings, photoshoots, and fashion shows, all while making time to see her friends after work. “Then I go home to my cats, whom I honestly think of 24/7 and complete my day.”
Manere reflects her intentional outlook on her personal necessities, like how her headphones give her a movie protagonist’s sense of confidence, her IQOS Iluma device being a signal to take a break, or how her everyday fragrance keeps her refreshed even after a long day of work.
Becoming more conscious of the energies she often surrounds herself with has become its own essential to her everyday as well, saying how it naturally attracts those who resonate with her own. “Professionally, being intentional for me just means getting clearer on what I actually want to represent and where I’m headed,” she adds.
And whether she finds herself along the runways of Philippine Fashion WeekFashion WeekA series of seasonal events where designers debut their latest collections, setting the tone for upcoming fashion trends and showcasing creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation across the global fashion industry. or taking a moment to escape the city noise by the beach, Manere expresses how she now takes control of her creative path, while still being open to what piques her curiosity. “I’ve also learned to see growth as an ongoing thing, you know, just constantly working on my craft and not being scared to evolve,” she says.
