Quiñones returns to the Spanish city to rediscover it, seeking new memories and creative inspiration with her personal OPPO Find X9 in hand
Touring through the cityscape of Barcelona, Spain, Vogue Philippines’ deputy editor Pam Quiñones brings along the OPPO Find X9, the brand’s recently launched smartphone, as her companion in discovering the capital’s heritage and fashion scene. From local boutiques to museums and other cultural touchpoints, Quiñones also details a few of her favored features, as well as the updated camera suite of the Find X9.
“The global launch of the OPPO Find X9 in Barcelona featured a well-paced agenda that included time for independent exploration,” shares Quiñones. “This was also a chance for us to immerse ourselves in local culture and test the photo and video limits of the new phone.”
A fashion editor’s trail
Alongside her mother, one of Quiñones’ highlights of the trip was touring the studio of Eliurpi, a brand she has long admired for its art direction and exaggerated headwear designs. “I also found Thinking Mu, a Barcelona-born, proudly Spanish streetwear label with a Mediterranean twist. They have small-batch collections that use biofibers through regenerative farming. I also stopped by the ultra-sleek Bassal store to browse the handmade jewelry from Simuero and made my way to Miista, a global favorite for unconventional footwear.”
From a creative’s perspective
After the OPPO launch event, Quiñones says how she was particularly curious to test the Find X9’s refreshed Hasselblad camera system, a facet of OPPO’s enduring collaboration that aims to elevate their shared sensibilities for smartphone photography. Among the various lenses within its camera cluster, the phone’s 50 MP rear camera is built to capture 4K video with a smooth 120 fps.
“The camera captures images in true color, ensuring that the primary colors in artworks, like those of Miró, are rendered exactly as they appear in real life,” Quiñones elaborates. “Second is the astonishing 120x zoom capability. I tested this feature extensively, and it truly blew my mind. I captured the intricate architecture of La Sagrada Familia from a distant rooftop late at night, and the resulting image was incredibly sharp.”
AI as a creative companion
Apart from maximizing the phone’s cameras, she also notes how the Find X9’s use of artificial intelligence allowed her to catalogue the many visual references she discovered along the way. “I was keen to try AI Mind Space, a new AI feature designed to act as a ‘brain helper’ by intelligently organizing information stored on the phone. This feature allows me to bookmark important images I see and automatically gets filed on the app with descriptions and hyperlinks,” she adds.
Power that lasts
More than just its updated camera suite, Quiñones shares how the Find X9’s other features proved to be a reliable companion for her trip. With its 7,025mAh battery and built-in cooling chamber, she also expresses how this allowed her to explore the sights and sounds of Barcelona without needing to stop for a quick charge or worrying about the phone overheating under the sun.
On the last day of her tour, Quiñones details her experiences of creating her own espadrilles at La Manual Alpargatera, an 85-year-old workshop and boutique. “Here, we learned the traditional craft of making espadrilles by hand. A second-generation family member of the business walked us through the intricate process, and the in-house artisans provided expert guidance as we crafted our very own pair of shoes.”
For Quiñones, having the OPPO Find X9 with her throughout the trip allowed her to not only gather new creative inspirations but also to capture new memories worth sharing, all without compromising on quality and color with each shot.
