Singapore-based snack company Baken weaves its founder’s roots in Philippine cuisine for a curated token for guests of Vogue Threads Manila

From breakfast platters to Michelin star dishes, bacon is a versatile meat that caters to the palettes of many. For founder and CEO Rachel Carrasco, her deep appreciation for the morning meal staple inspired her to create a brand that allowed her cravings to be fulfilled no matter the occasion.

Though based in Singapore, Baken sees its roots within the founder’s childhood memories in the Philippines, driven by the local culture and its festivities surrounded by pork-based meals. “At Baken, we believe snack time is sacred and that it should be defined by the sheer joy of eating something you love,” shares Carrasco in an interview with The Business Manual.

At Vogue Threads Manila, guests were able to venture along the halls of Space at One Ayala to not only participate in insightful conversations but to also take part in exploring the convention halls with the aid of their event passports, which brought them along a selection of booths with their own unique set of experiences.

By acquiring their stamps from the concessionaires stationed at the indicated locations, guests were then able to claim a complimentary gift box from the snack brand, of which included a bag of Baken’s Real Bacon Crisps as well as a box of artisanal bacon chocolate pralines made exclusively for the event.

Similarly, these gift boxes were also given as tokens of gratitude to the partners and guests who joined the Vogue Philippines team for dinner at the Manila House Club in BGC, Taguig. Seen conversing and celebrating with the team was designer Rajo Laurel, Vogue Singapore’s editor-in-chief Desmond Lim, and managing director Natasha Damodaran who later shared, “You know what was most popular from my trip back from Manila? The office loved Baken, the bacon chips.”
