Organized by Globe, Eala’s fan meeting in Manila highlighted her run on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) circuit, along with her success at Wimbledon. The event featured an on-stage conversation, meet-and-greet opportunities, and a global livestream.

“For Globe, Alex Eala embodies Filipino world-class talent, inspiring grit, and hard work, telling the world that Filipinos have what it takes to compete and win,” said Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz in his speech. “Her journey is a wonderful story of hope for all of us. When we rally behind our own, we inspire more Filipinos to dream bigger and believe that we can make things happen.”

Sharing stories about her tennis journey growing up, Eala said that, like other athletes, she has had her fair share of ups and downs. There were moments when things were not going well in other aspects of her life, but she still chose to keep going. “Courage to me looks like showing up when you need to be there,” she said.

As if she had not already won over the crowd, a fan invited on stage said that, among Eala’s many qualities, it was her mindset that the fan admired the most.

“I’m excited for so many things,” Eala said. “This is only the start. In the near future, the US Open is coming up. So after this week, I’m going to get ready and prepare for that.”

Eala’s next tournament is the WTA 500 Mubadala DC Open in Washington, D.C., from July 27 to August 2.
