“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla, said in a statement.

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest at her Calabasas, California home, mere days after she attended the 2023 Golden Globes to support Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic Elvis (which she described to fans as “incredible”). The musician, who released three studio albums between 2003 and 2012, was 54 years old.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla said in a statement, adding: “She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”

Members of Presley’s family, including daughter Riley Keough, aren’t the only ones mourning the loss, as was made abundantly clear on Friday when social-media statements from powerful figures inside and outside of the music industry began rolling in. Below, find heartfelt reactions to Presley’s passing from Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Sean Lennon, Marlee Matlin, Octavia Spencer, and more.
