Vogue Philippines suggests some things to do and places to visit in and around Manila this February 2024, focusing on initiatives that highlight craft, community, and culture.
Go by Sensei
Ahead of the opening of Iai by chef Bruce Ricketts, the creative culinary mind behind Sensei and Mecha Uma, comes a fast-casual kaisendon pop-up concept that combines elements from his two restaurants—think: Mecha Uma’s serious demeanor meets Sensei’s casual, comforting aura in a quick, ready-to-go format.
Go by Sensei’s compact menu is composed of a selection of raw seafood rice bowls including the Akamizuke (shoyu-marinated maguro or yellowfin tuna), Salmon Oyako (salmon and ikura), and premium offerings such as the Smoked Toro kaisendon (a bigger version of Mecha Uma’s signature smoked toro nigiri). “Each kaisendon comes as a set with miso soup, nori and pickles, and customers can eat it like a straightforward chirashi bowl or make their own temaki if they like,” says Ricketts.
The pop-up will run from February 5 to May 31, 2024 at Stall 17 in The Grid Food Market, located on the 2nd floor of the Power Plant Mall in Makati.
SAAN SAAN Presents: Gitling
For SAAN SAAN’s first cinematic offering in their #SceneToScent exploration, the soy candle and fragrance home goods studio will be screening the award-winning film Gitling on February 23, 2024 at Sine Pop in Cubao, Quezon City. The film, directed by Jopy Arnaldo, won the Best Screenplay award at the 2023 Cinemalaya Film Festival and the 2023 Qcinema International Film Festival.

The Sandbox Collective’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Art Fair Philippines 2024
Art Fair Philippines returns for its annual showcase of modern and contemporary Philippine art. This weekend, from February 16 to 18, explore the expanse of work from Filipino and international artists and galleries spread across The Link’s car-park-turned-exhibition space.
Mich Dulce Studio’s Open House
Fit and view the latest offerings from designer Mich Dulce as she hosts an open house at her atelier in Pasig City from February 17 to 25. Premiered at Bench Fashion Week, the designer’s palette of Piña and T’nalak is playfully juxtaposed with latex, woven into her signature scheme of softly gathered folds and artful corsetry. As a surprise treat from Dulce, find a selection of discounted hats and clothing from previous collections, too.
Mich Dulce Studio will be open to the public by appointment only from February 17 to 25, 2 PM to 8 PM. For more information, see the designer’s official announcement on Instagram.
