The Vanity Fair Oscar Party Was (Unsurprisingly) the Best Place to Be Last Night

Spirits were high at the 29th annual Vanity Fair Oscars Party, where A-listers came together to celebrate historic wins and nominees alike. The evening took place at the Annenberg Center in Beverly Hills, where the magazine’s editor in chief Radhika Jones rolled out the signature sapphire blue carpet.

The theme for the night was Old Hollywood glamour with a modern twist—a cue from the magazine’s recent cover starring film’s most watched stars like Selena Gomez, Florence Pugh, Julia Garner, Emma Corin, and Oscar-nominees like Austin Butler and Ana de Armas, many of whom were in attendance.

Set in an indoor-outdoor space dressed in crushed velvet walls, the after-party felt like an Old Hollywood smoking room turned swanky soirée under the moonlight. At the bar, The Daniels, the young filmmaking duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, which swept a winning title in all of its nominated categories, held a martini in one hand and their Oscar in another. Nearby, Seth Rogan was winding down in true California fashion while the highly anticipated arrivals never seemed to end.

Hunter Shafer definitely turned heads in her barely-there ensemble, while Kaia Gerber looked the party of young Hollywood starlet in a slinky Celine number with her beau (Austin Butler) close by. The night felt very coupled up. In a double-breasted black blazer adorned with a dazzling diamond cross necklace, Billie Eilish paraded around her boyfriend, Jesse Rutherford, while Kate Bosworth and Justin Long continued their campaign for the cutest couple of the year, holding hands all night long. Of course, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner showed up wearing coordinating Louis Vuitton looks that felt equally edgy and sophisticated for a parent’s night out. Fresh from a romantic vacation, Hailey and Justin Bieber were spotted hanging with the sporty crowd like New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Clippers star Russell Westbrook.

In a Christian Dior sparkly gown, best-actress winner Michelle Yeoh wore her Oscar as an accessory all night long, posing for photos with her cast members (many of whom had their own) and fellow winners like Brendan Fraser. It was easy to toast the evening’s top runners mainly because everyone worked on the same film, but that didn’t mean the runner-ups weren’t having a blast.

For Oscar-nominated actor Paul Mescal, the 29th annual Vanity Fair Oscar Party was a full-fledged family reunion with his siblings and parents in tote. While notable head turners like Olivia Wilde and Emily Ratajkowski showed up fearlessly stag. Straight from the Versace runway to the red carpet, supermodels Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Precious Lee, and more were out in full force; it was rumored that Donatella Versace might even pop in for a drink. Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett and Salma Hayek were caught gossiping in the party’s iconic photo booth.

Guests enjoyed In-n-Out burgers while mingling with stars such as Sharon Stone, Sarah Paulson, Holland Taylor, and Sienna Miller, who took over a cozy corner. See all the best photos from the night, below.
