The Best Dressed Stars This Week Reimagined Old Hollywood Style

It was a busy week for celebrities, which fortunately meant plenty of red carpet moments. Pillar events such as L.A.’s Academy Museum Gala, the London Film Festival, and Vogue’s Forces of Fashion event in New York meant A-list stars were bringing out the statement looks. The best of them channeled Old Hollywood glitz and glamour, albeit in new, inventive ways.

At last night’s Academy Museum Gala, stars had fun with the formal dress code. Jodie Turner-Smith opted for a chic, feather-trimmed Gucci gown that one could envision a rich widow wearing to float around her mansion. Eiza Gonzalez channeled Jessica Rabbit in LaQuan Smith’s fiery red sequin column dress, while Amal Clooney slipped into Del Core’s minty strapless gown from the resort collection.

At the London Film Festival, some took delightful fashion risks. At the premiere of My Policeman, Emma Corrin dared to wear JW Anderson’s kitschy goldfish dress. In New York, Gigi Hadid was a stylish speaker at Vogue’s Forces of Fashion conference, wearing a suit-and-tie look consisting of pieces from Comme des Garçons, vintage Dior, and of course, her own brand, Guest in Residence. Wearing your own designs to a major event? Talk about a serious flex.
