There’s no need to buy a new elaborate outfit for this year’s Halloween party. Look to these pop culture characters for costume inspiration.
There’s no holiday that has us questioning what to wear quite like Halloween. The ancient Celtic festival has had its fair share of iterations over its 2,000 year history. What once celebrated the end of harvest season and went on to be known as the night of souls, ghouls, and ghosts, is now mostly a night to dress up as one of your favorite characters. However which way you want to celebrate the night, you’re probably going to end up wondering, who should I be for Halloween?
Thankfully, its been an exciting year for pop culture and entertainment. The year 2022 was filled with some of the most gripping series’ to date, including the latest season of Stranger Things, Euphoria, and Bridgerton. We were also treated to the highly anticipated releases of House of the Dragon, the unwitting success of All of Us Are Dead, and the official announcement of the return of Emily In Paris.
All of these binge-worthy shows have the potential to be your next Halloween costume. For those of you pressed for time or don’t want to spend your paycheck on a wild look for one night only, don’t worry. You might already have everything you need. Below are some pop-culture Halloween costume ideas from this year’s most talked-about shows that you might already have in your closet:
-

Penelope Featherington
It’s Regency era in London, and all your closest friends are being paired off for marriage. Penelope’s covetable look from Netflix’s Bridgerton is an easy fit for those of you with access to some curlers and perhaps an old floor-length gown. Make sure to powder and pinch your cheeks and pin half your hair up after it’s been tightly curled. Remember, it’s all about those ringlets.
-
Emily Carey as Alicent Hightower in House Of The Dragon
Ollie Upton / HBO
Alicent Hightower
With an emerald green dress and middle-parted medieval hair, perhaps you too could catch the eye of a king. Recreate her look with anything off-shouldered and green. Like Penelope, hair is key for this look. Curl the ends of your locks, then braid them thickly behind the ears and pin in place. Feel free to accessorize with gold necklaces and belts.

Camille and Mindy
Looking for the perfect outfits for you and your best friend? Consider taking on Camille and Mindy from Emily In Paris. For Camille, all you need is a brightly colored pantsuit and knee-high boots. Mindy on the other hand will require a fun mini-dress. The shorter and more fringe or flounce, the better. She’s also never too far away from a pair of high-heeled pumps or boots.
-
Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez in Euphoria
Eddy Chen/HBO
Maddy Perez
There are few shows that have had quite the impact on style and beauty like Euphoria has. What’s been called “The Euphoria Effect” is defining the style of new generation, and there’s no reason you can’t get in on the fun, even for a night on Halloween. With a crop-top-and-mini-skirt ensemble, some hair gel, and eyeliner, you can pull off your own Maddy Perez look. For Maddy, styled baby hair and graphic eyeliner are essential to get the look right, so don’t be afraid to go bold.
-
Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, and Maya Hawke as Robin Bickley in Stranger Things
Netflix
Robin Buckley
Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things returned for a fourth season this year, and the hype showed no signs of slowing down. Fans of the show will be familiar with Robin Buckley’s famous sailor girl getup, which can be easily captured with a striped sailor shirt, red handkerchief, mini skirt, and knee-high white socks. For extra style points, loosely curl your hair and mess it up for the classic undone “Robin” look.
-
All of us are Dead (L to R) Lomon as Lee Su-hyeok, Cho Yi-hyun as Choi Nam-ra in All of us are Dead
Yang Hae-sung/Netflix © 2021
Lee Su-hyeok
Hit zombie show All Of Us Are Dead has us reaching back for our school uniforms. With a little bit of dirt and fake blood, you can capture protagonist Lee Su-hyeok’s harrowed look as he tries to save his classmates from an army of zombies.
