Iris Law touched down in Cannes from Kyoto this week, where she has been studying Japanese in relative anonymity. “I actually have noticed how much I dress for myself, because really and truly, nobody is seeing me; I’m not taking any photos of myself,” she tells Vogue over the phone from the French Riviera. “I’m dressing really comfortably [but] I still will go and put all my earrings and clips on. That’s really interesting; I didn’t really realise that about myself?”
In many ways, dressing for the Cannes Film Festival requires the exact same approach—despite the hundreds of camera lenses currently trained on the Croisette. While head-to-toe runway looks are ubiquitous on A-listers these days, Law was able to put together her own ’fit for Miu Miu’s lunch in Antibes, celebrating the launch of Catherine Martin’s new upcycled collaboration with the Italian brand. “[What] I love about Miu Miu is the flexibility of [the clothes]; everything just looks so good together,” the model says. In the end, Law opted for a blue sporty jacket, teamed with a knitted white shirt, brown pleated miniskirt and orange flip-flops with leg warmers. “It’s that mixture of girly, but tomboy-ish,” she continues. “I just feel confident, comfy, and very myself.”
