Is Zendaya’s minimal makeup era officially over? The actor attended a Spider-Man: Brand New Day fan event in Berlin today alongside her husband, Tom Holland, notably ditching her signature monochromatic makeup for a colorful, shimmery eye.
Makeup artist Ernesto Casillas used an iridescent purple eyeshadow all over her lids. “We wanted to tie in the color and sparkle of her beautiful earrings,” Casillas tells Vogue exclusively. “So we did a wash of cool-toned silvers on the eyes and kept the lip more nude.”
Casillas also shared a subtle spidery detail of the makeup look: “We also did a spidery lash,” he says, adding that it was Lashify Lash Extensions in the style “Wet.” A longtime favorite when it comes to runway beauty, the wet lash (also called spider lashes) trend is all about creating a doll-like look by clumping the eyelashes together while still wet with mascara.
This high-impact look is a bit out of the ordinary for the star, save for that show-stopping blue eye makeup look—a literal something blue—to conclude The Drama press in April.
When it came to her signature bixie, hairstylist Ursula Stephen swept her bangs up and to the side, styled super-sleek. And of course, there’s image architect Law Roach’s contribution: A custom two-piece set from Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière.
