When photographer Borgy Angeles stepped into the main hall of the Vogue Studios Philippines Launch Party, he was instantly drawn to the pulsing lights of the LED screens, which caught glimpses of the crowd in an otherwise dark room. For his photo diary, he shows a fascination with light and shadow, but also zooms into pockets of stillness amid the dancing.
With over 250 guests in attendance, the event included designers, musicians, actors, and models alongside photographers, directors, and stylists. Throughout the evening, Borgy was happy to see fellow creatives on the dance floor, at the food bar, and inside the TikTok film set. “Everyone’s energy made me so excited,” he shares, adding that he has few chances to see artistic collaborators outside work. Near the lounge, he offered congratulations to his friend Jan Pineda, who helped produce the dynamic look and mood of the space.
Here at the Shooting Gallery Studios, Borgy used his camera to linger on this rare gathering, intrigued by the contrast between a big event and its many intimate interactions. Through a mix of stolen snapshots and portraits, he captured serene moments in black and white, sometimes asking people to stare directly into the camera lens for an up-close effect.
