A curation of the most sought-after beauty styles from an evening that will go down in history and chart the course of beauty trends for the upcoming seasons. All we can say is J’adore Dior!
The Indian fashion landscape just witnessed a monumental moment as The Gateway of India in Mumbai hosted Dior’s fall/winter 2023 collection in collaboration with the Chanakya School of Craft. The fashion show was attended by Indian and international A-Listers, influential fashion and art patrons, industrialists and powerful political figures. The night showcased the best of the best in fashion and snippets from the ramp walk revealed that Dior’s upcoming collection has undertones of Indian textiles and patterns. Apart from the remarkable melange of traditional Indian and contemporary decor that elevated the charm of this iconic landmark, the varied ensemble and beauty choices did not go unnoticed by admirers and critics alike. As for who wore what, diverse sartorial choices including Sonam Kapoor‘s rouge pink 3 piece, Rekha’s synonymous south Indian saree, Anushka Sharma’s summery yellow dress with a matching mini Lady Dior bag, Cara Delevingne’s androgynous kimono top and shorts, Mira Kapoor and Poorna Jagannathan’s monotone sets were some of the head-turning looks. Favourite arm candies of the night were the houses’ classics–the Lady Dior and Dior Saddle bag. The men sported the best-fitted suits with a twist like Virat Kohli’s white sneakers, Arjun Kapoor’s statement graphic dog t-shirt and Nnattawin’s colourful turtleneck. An honourable mention goes to the Thai actor Mile for his playful white and orange jumper.
2023 has seen numerous contradictory beauty trends, many of which have been derived from the past decades, this sheds light on how bold and muted styles can co-exist. However, there were noteworthy recurring beauty and hairstyles that everyone is swooning over, theses include renditions of the classic bun, poker-straight hair, the sultry red lip, glossy makeup and bold eyeliner flicks. Industrialist and philanthropist Natasha Poonawala opted for a tight bun while Charithra Chandran’s bun brought out Gen Z sensibilities and Diipa Buller Khosla wore her chic bun with the ends of it left out of the hair tie. Red lips were championed in shades including merlot, carrot and blood red. Korean-American model Irene Kim and actor Freida Pinto drove home the importance of dewy fresh glass skin. The Dior models themselves featured numerous retro hairdos similar to the roaring 20’s with wet smoky eyes created by Dior Beauty’s makeup artist Peter Phillips.
Ahead, we curate the best beauty looks from Dior’s fall/winter 2023 show in Mumbai, last night.
