The House of Dreams will be presenting a couture collection to mark the beginning of Paris Couture Week tonight.
As Men’s Fashion Week ends in Paris, a new tribe comes into town to replace the international press and commercial buyers. It’s estimated there are roughly 4000 club members who can afford it, 2,200 seamstresses who are qualified to make it, and only 16 grand couturiers.
This is the elusive world of Haute Couture, and one of the major players is the House of Dior by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Over the decades, the baton of Creative Director has been passed to designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano, and Raf Simons, who have reinterpreted the codes of the brand’s DNA with each republic.
Unlike her predecessors, Maria was the first woman to be given the position of power at Christian Dior, giving the brand a legion of devoted followers, who resonate with her intrinsic understanding of the female form and how to dress it.
