A whole barangay showed up for Norman De Vera and Peter Movrin’s AZ Factory collection during Paris Fashion Week.
Together, the in-house AZ Factory duo Norman Rene De Vera and Peter Movrin were chosen to be the guest designers for the brand’s spring/summer 2024 collection. Having worked closely with the late Alber Elbaz over the years, the pair designed the collection with the intention of preserving Elbaz’s vision and legacy while moving the brand forward. “Alber created clothes to be worn. The true legacy, the future of AZ, is to continue the narrative of clothes being worn by real people,” shared De Vera.
The pair also shared that they designed with different generations of women in mind. They imagined what the daughters of “Elbaz’s besotted clients” would wear today, and pictured a “Saturday of a lady” who wakes up in the morning wearing her lover’s white cotton shirt and goes out at night in a draped and ruched pink satin minidress, or a lime green lacy négligé.
Editor-in-chief Bea Valdes fondly said to De Vera that “a whole barangay (figuratively referring to the smallest Filipino government unit)” was present at the show, to illustrate the support of the Filipino community. The Vogue Philippines team witnessed the hours of preparations leading up to the runway show, along with Filipino personalities Pia Wurtzbach, Anne Curtis, Bryanboy, and Nadine Lustre.
