Wardrobe cues from the fall runways lean into the art of earth-toned elegance and unstructured garments.
It’s all an illusion; this season’s offerings are themed to new ways of seeing. Textures are meant to melt into the earth, and soft-structured silhouettes meet a gentle unraveling. This month, explore old classics that take to fabric manipulation, feathers, and wild things, accessorized with metals that sprout, bubble up, and curve.
As the summer heat slips into endless overcast skies, it might be time to opt for draped layers that flow down the frame in loose, languid lines. The fall runways traded structure for swathes of silk or cotton jersey, gathered at points or effortlessly thrown over the shoulder. To further refresh a transitioning wardrobe, tack on print, pattern, and color and wear art on your frame: The offerings at Jean Paul Gaultier, Coperni, and Margiela are your wardrobe staples but with added visual interest.
In Plain Plumage

Let earth-toned embellishments in natural hues render you a stylish fly on the wall; or in this case, a peacock hiding in plain sight.
Paper Doll

Trick the eye with anti-tailored garments that disconnect the body from fabric, creating unexpected spaces that invite a closer look.
