Holiday Gift Guide: Vania Romoff

From The Row’s Rai Sandal to a vintage Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch, designer Vania Romoff has compiled her holiday wishlist for your shopping pleasure.

‘Tis the season for giving. Vogue Philippines talks to tastemakers and style mavens about what sought-after pieces they’re eyeing this year. Vania Romoff’s wishlist is a balance between sartorial must-haves and luxurious items for the home.

Designer Vania Romoff is known for her feminine pieces that shine a spotlight on the female figure. The daughter of Cebu’s first couturier Viring Romoff and the sister of celebrated Cebu-based designer Anthony Romoff, she inherited her penchant for design from her family members and followed in their footsteps.

Making use of A-lined silhouettes, smocked bodices, oversized bows, and billowing sleeves, the 34-year-old designer’s oeuvre spans ready-to-wear attire to custom gowns with whimsical fabrics and ornate details.

Her interests extend beyond clothing to eclectic homeware. Ahead of the holidays, Romoff’s wishlist is a reflection of her curious and creative mind with pieces that are functional, minimalist, and ultramodern.

“These are just a few of the items I’ve added to my shopping bag or things I’ve held off on purchasing [since] I’m not an impulse shopper,” Romoff tells Vogue Philippines. Intentional about shopping, she focuses on pieces that are long-lasting, only splurging for special occasions like birthdays or on Christmas.

“I’m an emotional shopper,” she admits. “That said, I always think through each purchase. I like buying pieces that spark some kind of emotion in me.”

By being more sensible and waiting before purchasing, she gains a deeper appreciation for her coveted pieces.

Wonderful time

“To me, the holiday season means joy,” Romoff says. “Whether it be the joy of giving, the joy of self care or the joy from magical moments with [the] people you care about and celebrating these moments through food and festivities.”

Below, the designer unearths some special finds for those dearest to you (or for a special treat to yourself). After all, a gift this holiday season feels twice as nice with a mindful mindset in tow.
