‘Tis the season for giving. Vogue Philippines talks to tastemakers and style mavens about what sought-after pieces they’re eyeing this year. From cult luxury designer pieces to artisanal Filipino craftsmanship, see actress Chai Fonacier’s Christmas must-haves.

Award-winning actress Chai Fonacier, who has acted alongside the likes of Eva Green and Mark Strong, is known for her “radiant confidence,” as described by Clint Holton Potestas in his interview with her for Vogue Philippines.

If there was any indication of her fearless character, the Revolution Knows No Gender and Patay Na Si Hesus star summed it up in the interview: “I don’t know what kind of wave is coming, and I am scared of it. But I have my eyes on the horizon.”

During her international debut with the 2022 Filipino-Irish psychological thriller Nocebo alongside Green and Strong by director Lorcan Finnegan, Fonacier described taking great care to properly represent the multi-faceted aspects of Filipino culture.

This included her using the melodic urban Cebuano accent, in addition to consulting Filipino shamans to accurately portray folkloric health remedies of the Philippines.

In an interview, Fonacier describes being elated to be able to speak Cebuano. “We don’t often hear that even in local mainstream media in the Philippines,” she describes, referring to the fact despite having nearly two hundred languages

That care for proper representation is reflected in her wishlist, which includes both international luxury and locally crafted pieces, from an all-occasion See by Chloe bag to handcrafted heels made by artisans in Manila’s shoe capital, Marikina. She also includes several musical instruments, including a Fender guitar and a Roland drumset, which offer a nod to her beginnings as a singer-songwriter.

Fonacier also lists a writing set, which comes with two sets of dipping ink and a glass pen. Below, find precious items the actress has listed, which may serve as an inspiration for your next stylish adventures and musical pursuits.
