Margot Robbie is staying in character this awards season.
The actor earned a Golden Globe nomination for Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for her titular role in Barbie. Robbie, who took up method dressing for the film’s press tour, seems to be reprising her pink-heavy wardrobe for the foreseeable future.
With the help of Giorgio Armani Privé, Robbie channeled the 1977 “SuperStar” Barbie doll’s 50th anniversary iteration in a custom hot pink V-neck dress covered in sequins. She draped a pink tulle polka-dot boa around her arms, lifted from Armani Privé’s fall 2022 couture collection. Styled by Andrew Mukamal, Robbie completed her look with a hot pink clutch, matching pointy-toe heels, and over $3 million of jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz—enormous diamond studs and a pink diamond ring.
“SuperStar” Barbie comes with an outfit change—a black glittering v-neck with a coordinating tulle boa, which she wore to the after party at the Chateau Marmont. This wouldn’t be the first time the actor has pulled off a multi-look Barbie. For the film’s Seoul premiere, she wore Versace renditions of the 1985 “Day to Night” Barbie.
After the film’s press tour ran its course and Robbie returned to her normal, pink-free wardrobe, there was speculation over what the actor’s awards circuit would entail, sartorially speaking. But when she turned up at the Gotham Awards late last year dressed as “Black Magic” Barbie in custom Prada, we knew that Margot Robbie would be returning to Barbieland for at least one last hurrah.
