Louis Vuitton takes to the azure waters of Lake Maggiore in Isola Bella for their Cruise 2024 presentation.
Isola Bella is the picturesque island that sits between Lombardy and Ticino amidst the vast expanse of Lake Maggiore. Its name directly translates to “beautiful island,” making it a sweet destination for French luxury house Louis Vuitton’s cruise collection.
The dizzying spells of the California deserts inspired Nicolas Ghesquière’s last cruise collection, and the LV Cruise 2023 woman was clad in sun-ray-reflecting metallics, coming down the runway from the line of the horizon.
Meanwhile, the Isola Bella setting is beautiful in its ephemerality, like most things in nature, and Princess Marina Borromeo calls it a “fragile place.” Louis Vuitton cites a line from Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell To Arms, in which he writes, “I rowed across to Isola Bella and went close to the walls, where the water deepened sharply, and you saw the rock wall slanting down in the clear water.”
Perhaps the Cruise 2024 woman is one of subtle elegance, one who finds strength in vulnerability.
