Matthew M. Williams is showing Givenchy’s Women Spring/ Summer 2023 collection during Paris Fashion Week.
French luxury fashion house, Givenchy, is synonymous with streamlined and distinctly contemporary garments with hints of tradition, opulence, and subversion. In his Resort 2023 collection, creative director Matthew M. Williams created an essential capsule wardrobe with a riveting juxtaposition of concise tailoring with distressed denims and form-fitting garments with fluid separates. Crisp silhouettes took form in ribbed turtlenecks paired with crystal-embellished denim or flared trousers, while clean lines and sleek blazers demonstrated the label’s finely tailored attire with industrial accents.
His Spring 2023 Menswear collection comprised of minimalist garments with a contemporary edge and metal hardware in tow. Appliquéd “Gs” and “Givenchy” lettering adorned the necklines of leather jackets, headbands, tracksuits, and distressed denim to name a few. One can always expect a creative straightforwardness in the director’s invigorating collections. Mirroring the archetypes he sees everyday in contemporary society, Williams puts his own distinct spin to the Givenchy aesthetic.
