Supermodel Gigi Hadid opened the Vogue World: Milano runwayRunwayThe platform or catwalk on which models present a designer's collection to an audience of editors, buyers, and guests. Runway shows establish the creative statement of a season, and Vogue'sGo to Runway Glossary in a show-stopping Valentino gown from the spring 2025 collection. The dramatic period-inspired piece is one of the first Alessandro Michele designed as creative director for the Italian house, unveiled in Paris in January 2025.

The dress is crafted from recycled Venetian quilts, and took 1,680 hours to be completed by hand. Featuring voluminous puffed sleeves and a full skirt, it represents a postmodern interpretation of patchwork. At the top, a ruffled collar with matching cuffs (cut from ivory organzaOrganzaA sheer, lightweight, crisp fabric made from silk or synthetic fibers, valued for its structure and subtle shimmer.
