Hours before the Vogue Studios Philippines Launch Party, Vogue Philippines visited photographer Shaira Luna at the ACM Studio for a glimpse into how she gets ready.
Over a nearly two-decade career, Shaira Luna has amassed a portfolio of fashion editorials, ad campaigns, and celebrity portraits for major brands and publications. A self-taught creative, she stepped into her profession during the mid-2000s, shooting band gigs and lifestyle stories. Now signed with Artists & Company Manila, the sought-after photographer includes magazine covers and features among her work, such as the H.E.R. and Beabadoobee stories for Vogue Philippines, while sharing her love for vintage fashion online.
In her Get Ready With Me video, Shaira takes us behind the scenes to get to know the artist behind the camera. “I’m not really a party person, but I do like talking to a lot of people,” she shares, eager to catch up with fellow creatives later that night. “I guess I’m an all-around girl, I really don’t mind trying new things. I’m just that like smiley photographer.”
For the Vogue Studios Philippines party, which launches new programs across the magazine’s media channels, Shaira steps out of her usual layered-up look. While she planned to wear a dress bought from the Creatives’ Closet Sale, an annual event she runs herself, her final outfit is a “Clairo-inspired” eBay find that captures her love for the retro and nostalgic.
During the shoot, Shaira’s constant collaborators, makeup artist Xeng Zulueta and hair stylist Mong Amado, speak on the making of her go-to look, as well as the passion that drives them to create on weekends. “Even though we’re really kind of knee-deep in the industry, we still have to play, so we always do test shoots,” Shaira says. “We really just love what we do, so even though like we’re not required to do it, we still get together and shoot.”
Watch Shaira Luna get ready and reflect on her style influences, creative habits, and more on the Vogue Philippines YouTube channel.
