“I love a big old hat,” Daisy Edgar-Jones declares. We’re talking about packing for a summer holiday—topical, given that she’s fresh off the back of a sun-drenched campaign shoot in Sorrento, for the new Gucci Lido collection. Well… somewhat sun-drenched. “It was off season,” Edgar-Jones says, laughing, “so it was a bit rainy. I’d love to go back and do it properly.”
Also on her travel bucket list right now? The South of France—a fitting choice, given that Daisy’s personal summer style icon, Jane Birkin, is so synonymous with the land of lavender fields, brocantes and basket bags. “She is my constant, forever muse,” says the actor, whose own similarly aspirational fringe features on many a beauty moodboard in 2025. “She’s definitely been my hair inspiration for years, and I was actually recently looking up her summer style: denim shorts and a white T-shirt, or a beautiful lace white top with perfectly fitting jeans… Just effortless, she’s so chic. Jane Birkin all the way.”

Edgar-Jones’s own holiday packing list would doubtless get the Birkin seal of approval: her beloved straw hat aside, she intends to spend summer 2025 in “shorts and T-shirts and lovely dresses”. “I’m quite comfort-led,” says Daisy, who has happy memories of carefree childhood summers spent in her family’s holiday cottage on the Kent coast, exploring now hipsterish towns like Deal and Margate. “I appreciate the beauty of a heel, and I’d like to be someone who wears them casually more often, but I’m more of a sandal girl.”
If anything is going to tempt Daisy out of her Arizonas this summer, it will likely be the chic loafers she discovered as part of the Gucci Lido collection, which she is fronting alongside David Jonsson and Aliocha Schneider. “I loved the soft loafers in green—so great with jeans and a white tee,” she says. “I actually felt quite Jane Birkin-y in a lot of the looks, like a really beautiful matching white top and shorts set, which was quite ’70s. Loved!”

No doubt some of the new pieces will find their way into Daisy’s luggage ahead of her summer jaunts, even if she insists she’s a light packer. “I’ve gotten quite good at packing quickly because I have to do it a lot for work, and if it’s a short holiday I’m all about the hand luggage. And I don’t lay it all out weeks in advance or anything… I’m a day before the flight kinda packer.”
