Zendaya Taps Into Old Hollywood Codes In Venice

And with an opulent Bulgari necklace to boot.

Zendaya is never afraid to embrace throwback glamor. Her trademark? Extravagantly constructed, yet restrained gowns. The Dune 2 and Challengers star leaned into a similar sensibility for a Bulgari event in Venice. She donned a corseted black dress with a velvet texture, plunging neckline, and fishtail bottom. The couture number calls to mind gauzy, black-and-white images of Elizabeth Taylor or Dorothy Dandridge in their heyday. Zendaya, ever the master of statement pieces, amped up the drama by donning a hefty necklace by Bulgari that featured a winding snake design.

The star attended the brand event with her longtime stylist, Law Roach, by her side. At the event Zendaya and Anne Hathaway, another reliable red carpet favorite, posed together. For her part, Hathaway wore a necklace that included hot pink jewels. Together, the two stars looked like a perfect fit for a heist film centered on two well-to-do society ladies.

As a face of Bulgari and, more recently, Louis Vuitton, Zendaya is confidently leaning into her power as a modern fashion icon. We can’t wait to see what other great looks the star brings over the summer.
