The Wednesday star embraced a classic ‘80s silhouette at the Saint Laurent men’s show.
Jenna Ortega is Hollywood’s new It girl, thanks to her recent starring roles in Wednesday, X, and the Scream franchise—not to mention she’s a shining new fashion star, too. As evidenced at the recent Golden Globes, where she wore an ethereal Gucci gown on the red carpet, the actor is willing to have fun with fashion and make a bold statement. Her latest fashion serve was at Saint Laurent’s fall 2023 menswear show in Paris today. Shortly before taking in the new collection from the front row, Ortega posed in front of a giant gold “YSL” logo—in a super sleek look, of course.
For a few seasons now, Saint Laurent designer Anthony Vaccarello has been reviving the hooded gown in slinky, floor-length fabrications. His designs pay homage to the very same hooded, draped capuche dresses that Yves Saint Laurent introduced back in the mid 1980s (designers like Azzedine Alaïa also put forward the silhouette in the decade, as favored by icons like Grace Jones). Ortega couldn’t help but make it feel appropriate for a modern-day star: She went with an all-black sleeveless style that had a criss-cross neckline and an open back to make it feel sexy and more party-ready. The two stacks of golden bangles around her wrists also pointed to the excess of the ’80s. (Other famous fans of the haute hoodie? Janelle Monae, Paloma Elsesser, and Addison Rae.)
In the whole look, Ortega could easily go out partying in a Paris nightclub after the show and still look totally current. Plus, if it’s raining, she doesn’t even have to worry about ruining her hair. Chic and practical.
