At the GMA Gala, actress, singer, host, and vlogger Gabbi Garcia goes for a unique and unconventional Rick Owens look.
For her first GMA Gala, actress Gabbi Garcia explored silhouettes, wearing an archival Vania Romoff gown. Last year, she wore a siren-inspired Martin Bautista piece that played around with texture. This year, the actress wanted something unique, unconventional, and new. And more specifically, her heart was set on wearing a Rick Owens creation.
“Sourcing the piece was a collaborative effort with my team—Quarator’s Steven and Leanne, my glam team Jason and Aries,” Garcia says. “Although my stylists noted that sourcing a runway piece could be challenging, after hours of searching, we found the last one in my size online, as if it was just waiting for me.”
The structural gown incorporates denim into the metallic texture of the gown, which Garcia says “adds a unique and distinctive touch, blending edginess and elegance.” “When I first saw this piece during my search, I knew immediately it was the one,” she says. “The craftsmanship is extraordinary; it’s truly a masterpiece by Rick Owens. The intricate detailing, the way it hugs my body perfectly, and the edgy yet sophisticated aura all contribute to making this look unforgettable.”

For this year’s GMA Gala, what is the shared concept behind the look? How did it come about?
We presented several options to Gabbi which included a selection of Filipino & international designers featuring looks that varied from ethereal to sultry. For this year though, it was really important to push her towards the Rick Owens moment so we were really happy that she resonated with it. She gets it.
In three words, how would you describe the vision for this look?
A sculptural fashion fantasy.
What about the material, color or silhouette resonated with you and Gabbi for the evening?
Gabbi is wearing a Rick Owens runway piece from the Fall/Winter “Strobe” 2022 collection. It is a draped denim sequin gown in a dusty mushroom color. Everything about the dress is just the perfection. It’s the ultimate fashion moment.
What are your favorite details about this look?
The silhouette, the way the drapes intentionally highlight the body, and the dusty sequin fabric which provided just the right amount of shine without being too flashy.
