While Adidas Sambas and Onitsuka Tigers are competing to be the It-girl’s trainer of choice this summer, the Scandi girls at Copenhagen Fashion Week added a new contender to the mix: Cecilie Bahnsen’s collaboration with Asics.
Clearly Blackpink’s Jennie Kim has been taking notes, with the K-pop star sporting a pair of Cecilie Bahnsen X Asics Mary-Jane trainers, featuring the Danish designer’s signature floral motif and tie-up detailing, while in New York. Kim teamed the sneakers with white socks, a cropped horse-print T-shirt and tiered skirt, before adding an oversized shirt over the top to offset the girlish feel of the look.
Cecilie Bahnsen’s latest collaboration with Asics comes after the designer launched a limited-edition range of upcycled trainers with the Japanese brand back in September 2022. “It has always been about comfort and ease with the dresses,” Bahnsen previously told Vogue. “For me, the collaboration with Asics embraces that – it makes the story very easy to tell of how you would wear my dresses on a Monday, as well as to a party.”
The Mary-Jane sneakers are not the only new addition to Kim’s footwear collection, with the singer also posting a series of pictures of herself wearing New York-based designer Sandy Liang’s signature flats.
