Behind the scenes at 2023’s most awaited fashion comeback

Labor Day Weekend usually marks the unofficial end of summer, but while most New Yorkers were getting their last hurrahs away from the city, Peter Do and his team at Helmut Lang were busy at the atelier, refining his much anticipated debut collection.

Vogue Philippines was given a sneak peak of the collection ahead of Do’s September 8 show which kicked off New York Fashion Week. Photographer Martin Romero, who documented the visit to Do’s atelier, shares, “There’s something intriguing about the quiet confidence Peter Do possesses. Whenever he shows or explains something to his team, everyone encircles him and intently listens.”

The Vietnam-born designer worked under Phoebe Philo at Celine before starting his eponymous label in 2018.  Earlier this year Do was appointed the new creative director of Helmut Lang, tasked to revive the venerated label once synonymous with ‘90s minimalist cool. Romero shares photographs from the one of Peter Do’s fittings for his Helmut Lang collection visit here.
