To mark the 2026 Met Gala and the opening of “Costume Art,” the Costume Institute’s special exhibition, we revisit how designers have transformed the dressed body into a living artistic canvas across the pages of Vogue Philippines.
On May 5, 2026, Philippine Standard Time, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will once again host fashion’s biggest night: the Met Gala, celebrating the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition titled ‘”Costume Art.”
This year’s gala is particularly momentous with the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and inaugurates the Condé M. Nast Galleries. A new 12,000-square-foot gallery suite adjacent to the Great Hall symbolizes fashion’s elevated position of equal prestige alongside the world’s most celebrated masterpieces.
Curated by Andrew Bolton, the exhibition is a century-spanning odyssey that examines the relationship between the human form and the objects that adorn it. Unlike traditional chronological displays, “Costume Art” is structured into thematic chapters, including The Naked Body, The Abstract Body, The Aging Body, and The Pregnant Body. The show juxtaposes historical and contemporary garments from the Costume Institute with paintings, drawings, and antiquities from across the museum’s 17 curatorial departments.
In the spirit of this dialogue between the physical form and creative expression, we present a curated round-up from the pages of Vogue Philippines. These designs and images draw inspiration from the art world, echoing Bolton’s vision of a world where the boundary between the gallery and the garment gracefully dissolves.
